Illustration development residency for Beyond Botanical

During a short residency at Xenia Creative Retreat, I worked on a set of illustrations central to the structure of my book Beyond Botanical.

The residency centred on comparative studies of watercolour techniques, including pigment granulation, layering, and the behaviour of different papers. Through this process, I tested combinations of pigments and materials to determine which approaches best suited different parts of the book.

Several illustrations were completed during the residency, and the material methods established there continued into the rest of the publication.
